Looking for LOVE...at the LIBRARY!!!

There was a time when you went to the library to look for a good book, or do some research for school, or maybe even grab a rental movie on the cheap.  Or maybe you went to hear one of your favorite author's speak or to catch a seminar on starting a small  business. Nowadays it seems local libraries are offering much, much more. Recently some libraries, in an incentive to attract more visitors in this, the internet age, have begun hosting speed dating events and singles mixers.

I have to admit when I first read about this phenomenon in the New York Times I thought it was a bit strange. Now, upon further consideration, not so much. Maybe meeting a guy at the library is not such a bad idea after all. Especially since in some instances, participants are asked to bring their favorite books to the event. So  not only are you scoping  a potential mate based on their physical attributes, you have an eye into their intellect, too.  Also, there is an instant topic of communication: "What are you reading these days? Who is your favorite author?" Kinda sounds more promising than say, "What are you drinking?" doesn't it?

I don't know about you, but for me there's nothing sexier than a handsome man engrossed in an interesting book.  I love to read and would love to meet a guy with a passion for the page, too.  So maybe as spring approaches I'll keep my eyes out for any upcoming singles mixers at my local library.  After all they say doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is a sure sign of insanity. So maybe it's time to stop expecting to meet men at parties or  night clubs or bars. Maybe it's time to look somewhere totally unexpected--like the library!!!

I've been to mixers at bars and you are right--they can get a bit sloppy. Id be down to go to one at the library. If I don't take home a man at least I can take home a good book lol!!!

I dont know many guys who go to the library. Maybe that's the problem. But it sounds boring to me. Sorry Kerika! You know I'm always usually down but the library thing is not for me.
